The 704th Munitions Maintenance Squadron is a tenant unit on the Italian Air Base at Ghedi, Italy; Organizationally, falling under the 52d Munitions Maintenance Group at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany.

Newcomers

Upon in-processing with our CSS you will be scheduled to attend our Benvenuti Brief. Here you will obtain additional information about the various functions and resources here at Ghedi for military members and their families. This is typically held during the second week of each month.

Housing

Our housing representative will assist you with your house search upon arrival. You will be informed of available housing from already-known property owners. In addition, an appointment can be arranged to view properties you may have found online. Please note homes posted by a real estate agent may have a realtor fee associated. This fee is usually one month’s rent plus 22% tax.

Education & Schools

Ghedi Air Base is located outside of the commuting zone of schools operated by the Department of Defense (DoD) and is a location served by the Non-DoD Schools Program (NDSP). Parents are authorized to enroll their children at several local international schools for grades K-6, and the NDSP has provided funding to transport students from designated bus stops to their assigned school.

Parents who choose not to enroll their children at the local international school have the option to attend Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) at US Army Garrison Italy, Caserma Ederle, located in Vicenza, at the expense of the parent(s). Children in grades 7-12 are authorized to attend Caserma Ederle and transportation is also provided.

Passports

No-fee Passport & Visa are required prior to travel. DO NOT travel without them. Before traveling, dependents must apply for a No-Fee Passport at your local MPF or base passport office.

If you arrive in Italy without official passports and visas, dependents will be subject to deportation and must fly back to the states at the family’s expense. Italian Visas are not issued in Italy.
