Sabers to participate in summer safety challenge

In 2012, 726 cyclists were killed in motor vehicle accidents with 18 percent being 14 and younger, according to a traffic safety fact sheet released in 2014 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. As part of the U.S. Air Force’s Critical Days of Summer, 52nd Fighter Wing leaders are encouraging the Spangdahlem Air Base community to watch out for bicyclists on the roadways. In Germany, cyclists must wear a helmet and the bicycle must be equipped with a bell, a head light and a tail light. Children up to 8 years old may ride on the sidewalk while adults must use bicycle trails or ride on the edge of the street. (U.S. Air Force photo illustration by Staff Sgt. Daryl Knee/Released)
