Name: Airman 1st Class Carl E. Miller

Unit: 480th Fighter Squadron

Duty title: Intelligence

Hometown: Norfolk, Va.

Years in Service: One year, 10 months

Why joined: My uncle Dave was my inspiration. I always wanted to serve. I also wanted to make college more affordable.

Family: I grew up with my dad, Carl, in Morton, Ill. My mom, Mary Keitz, lives near my hometown in Virginia. I have one sister, Ashley, who lives in Baltimore, Md. My cousins Katie and Charlotte are two of my favorite people in the world as well.

Hobbies: I am a sports guy, and my passion is soccer. I like ping pong and pool, and I learned to juggle back in high school with my world history teacher, Mrs. Katz. I love to watch football, and I am a huge follower of "Avatar: The Last Airbender." My favorite character is Toph.

Favorite aspect of job: The intelligence field is so unpredictable. You never know what will happen next, but you are always prepared.

Most memorable AF experience
: My TDY in Sweden is my most memorable experience as a whole. I got to fly in the back seat of an F-16 with Maj.Brant Reilly. Also while we were there, I was on the winning team during a little field trip that included geo-caching, mountain biking, white water rafting and repelling.

How do you make responsible choices: My dad made sure I knew the essentials in making good choices at a young age. He taught me right from wrong and always told me to think before I do things. However, in the Air Force, it's not all about me. I make responsible choices while doing my best to make sure none of my fellow Airmen do something they may regret.
