LRS offers POV shipping tips for a painless move Published April 3, 2008 By tips provided by the 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron SPANGDHALEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The surge of permanent change of station assignments and moves will soon hit the base. Shipment of a privately-owned vehicle should be a concern early in the PCS process to help avoid being stranded at a new location without the means to get around. The Spangdahlem Vehicle Processing Center is located in building 193A, behind the vehicle inspection site. To make an appointment to ship a POV, bring the following documents to the VPC at least two weeks prior to the turn-in/shipment date: · Five copies of PCS orders, printed front and back side · A valid vehicle registration, even for a non-operational registration · Military ID card · USAREUR drivers license · The EPA sticker must be located in engine compartment, and DOT decal located inside the drivers door. If one of these stickers are missing, contact VPC as soon as possible. · PCS orders with shipper listed on them. This can be the member or the spouse but the name must be on the orders. If the shipper is not listed on the PCS orders, a power of attorney is required to ship the POV. POV processing can be challenging based on the PCS timeline. In addition, stringent import and shipping requirements posed by the next location can make things more complicated. Therefore, prepare and gather information early. The VPC has several handouts that provide an abundance of information which can ease anxiety and ensure trouble-free processing as members ship out and receive thier POV. For more information, visit building 193A or call 452-7265 or 06565 4484. (Editors note: A new VPC is currently under construction at building 139. When it opens, information will be announced.)
