An excellent opportunity is available for students, ages 14-22, to apply for a six-week Student Summer Hire Program within various organizations of the 52 Fighter Wing. The work will either be in a clerical or laborer capacity and will pay $5.50/hour for a maximum of 40 hours per week. The length of employment will be from 7 July - 15 August 2008 with approximately fifty positions to be filled.
"These kinds of jobs are perfect for high school or college students to earn some extra spending money to use for vacations or school expenses in the new school year," said Dan Henderson, Civilian Personnel Officer. He advised that all interested applicants carefully read the instructions of the application package. Several forms and copies of specific items are required in order to be considered for these positions. If those items are not provided at the time of submission, packages will be considered incomplete and the student will not be hired. "Even though the paperwork seems overwhelming, it's an opportunity for our youth to experience the pursuit of employment and the responsibility that goes with it," he further commented.
The laborer positions consist of indoor/outdoor work with light to moderate lifting and/or yard work. Clerical duties can include typing, filing, shredding, answering phones, customer service or other similar tasks.
Vacancies will be announced and application packages will be available beginning Wednesday, 11 June. Completed packages must be turned into the Civilian Personnel Office, Building 151, first floor, by 1600 hours on Friday, June 20. Official in-processing is scheduled for Monday, July 7.
"We anticipate that students or parents will have questions regarding this effort and we will do all we can to assist in the process," according to Ms. Sandra Sharp, Student Summer Hire Program Coordinator. She can be contacted by e-mail at Sandra.Sharp@spangdahlem.af.mil or by phone at 452-6080.
