Festival organizers claim that more than 230,000 people came to this year's Rheinland Pfalz state fair June 13-15 in the attractive spa town of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. This is a high-visible annual event which takes place at a different German town every year.

It is the largest fair of the federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz to be hosted by the head of the state, the Minister President Kurt Beck. The event featured large-scale exhibitions, to include a military forces display; a giant, 4-hour long festival parade and first-class entertainment around the clock.

The 52nd Fighter Wing and the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band had the honor of representing the Air Force at this year's event. Nine Airmen from the 52nd Fighter Wing were also invited. Along with a group of German and other nation youngsters they were recognized for outstanding job accomplishments by the Minister President, Kurt Beck at a special Youth Reception June 13.

More than 30 members from the 52nd Fighter Wing participated in the three-day military forces exhibitions. On display were a U.S. fire truck, the Spangdahlem Air Base dental bus and a security police vehicle. The base fire department also provided a food booth.

The Minister President thanked everyone for making this year's Rheinland-Pfalz Day a successful event.
