Sabers, check out the following list for the summer events you may want to attend.

Now through Oct. 16. BUGA, the Federal Garden Shows of Germany, takes place in Koblenz. For details, visit http://www.buga2011.de.

Aug. 5-7. Attend the Bitburg Biersdorf Lake Festival. A fire-works display is scheduled for 11 p.m. Aug. 6.

Aug. 5-8. A wine festival featuring wine, food and a fireworks display takes place in Olewig, a suburb of Trier.

Aug. 6-7. The scenic town of Cochem holds their annual Reichsburg Castle festival.

Aug. 13. The popular Koblenz "Rhine in flames" and "Rhine aflame on the Rhine river" festival takes place, featuring nine fireworks displays in the towns of Koblenz, Spay, Braubach, Rhens and Lahnstein. The fireworks in Koblenz begin around 11 p.m. from the Stolzenfels castle and the Koenigsbacher brewery.

Aug. 20-21. Ruwer Aktiv, similar to Happy Mosel, features a wine festival and vehicle-free day for bikers, skaters and marchers between Trier-Ruwer and Reveris.

Aug. 21. Visit the annual Himmerod open air market, which offers regional products, art and handicrafts.

Aug. 27-28. The community of Manderscheid will sponsor their annual medieval castle festival. A medieval entertain-ment program and market are scheduled.

Sept. 1-5. The great Middle Mosel wine festival of Bernkastel-Kues, featuring entertainment and a fireworks display takes place throughout the town of Bernkastel-Kues. The fireworks display takes place around 9:30 or 10 p.m. Sept. 3. A colorful festival parade is scheduled early afternoon Sept. 4.

Sept. 2-10. "Bread and Games 2011" features a mix of en-tertainment, history, science, athletic acts, art and gladiator fights at the Trier Amphitheater.

Sept. 3-5. Saarburg will host a popular wine festival, which features wine sampling and entertainment. A fireworks dis-play and a parade through the city are scheduled.

Sept. 9-13 and Sept. 16-19. Have fun at the world famous Bad Duerkheim sausage festival.

Sept. 17 through Oct. 3. The famous Munich October festi-val takes place at Munich‟s "Wiesn" fairgrounds. It is the larg-est volksfestival in thethe world, attracting more than 6 million people annually.
