Spangdahlem AB Beta tests new feedback form Published Feb. 16, 2012 By Senior Airman Natasha Stannard 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Beta testing for the new "Airman Comprehensive Assessment" performance feedback program is underway and lasts until June. Air Force leadership initiated this Beta testing as a way to improve the performance feedback program based on the needs of Airmen and their raters. U.S. Air Forces in Europe selected Spangdahlem AB as an ideal test base for the assessment because of the 52nd Fighter Wing's high operations tempo. The Air Force Personnel Center will send an email to selected Airmen and their immediate rater with a link to the proposed performance feedback assessment worksheet and instructions via email when Airmen are due for a feedback session. AFPC will also send out a link to a survey for them to fill out once the feedback form is complete, which determines the worksheet's use Air Force wide. However, those new to base may not test the new form as it was created earlier this year, said 2nd Lt. Lucia White, 52nd Force Support Squadron Military Personnel Section chief. "We highly encourage participation," White said. "It's really critical to fill out the online survey because without filling it out AFPC won't know the effectiveness of the form. The survey is to see how you like the form. Filling it out will better develop the worksheet." As it works now, raters only fill out the performance feedback worksheet, which includes a performance feedback conversation and a section listing strengths and suggested goals. The beta test worksheet involves the ratee answering questions as well. Raters and ratees can expect more questions in general, especially open ended ones such as questions about personal goals, wingmen relationships and goals to reduce stressors in life. This form will also give ratees more involvement in the process as they will answer some of these questions for their rater to review. The new worksheet also includes a self assessment section with subcategories the rater will fill out to include the following sections: Airman's critical role in support of the mission, individual readiness and a performance feedback. The rater and ratee will fill out a section with questions about personal and professional goals together. "You can fit it to your needs," she said of the additional questions on the proposed feedback form. "The new form is a good conversation starter - it opens up discussion." The current officer and enlisted performance report process will remain the same until a decision is made by Air Force senior leadership based on the results of every Beta test.
