Children, Youth Education
Department of Defense Dependent's Schools operates schools on Spangdahlem Air Base with classes ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade. The elementary schools are for grades K-4, the middle schools are for grades 5-8, and the high school is for grades 9-12 and is now located on-base pending the completion of the new high school building.
As of Fall 2017 students can attend classes form K-12 on base. Bus service is available for families with school-age children living on the local economy. School registration begins early August, however, you may register your child or children at any time during the school year.

Private Schools
Americans can use the local German schools; however German language skills are needed beyond kindergarten. German kindergartens are the most frequently used of all the German programs by Americans. The older the child, the more German language skills are necessary.
Special Education

Adult Education
The Spangdahelm Education Center is the focal point for education information for the Saber community. Educational services are available for all active duty, retired military personnel, families and Department of Defense civilians. Various associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees are offered by the universities in the area.
Other services offered at the Education Center are as follows: education counseling, testing, financial aid counseling on tuition assistance for active duty military members and spouses, Montgomery GI Bill, commissioning counseling, Community College of the Air Force, Professional Military Education and much more.
Air Force Spouse Tuition Assistance
The Education Center provides tuition assistance for spouses of active duty Air Force enlisted members and officers who accompany their military spouses to overseas locations. The focus of the program is on degree completion or certificate programs providing increased occupational opportunities for spouses.
Air Force Aid Society Henry H. Arnold Education Grant
This program provides $2,000 grants to children and spouses of service members. The program is competitive and grant recipients are selected according to needs. For more information or to see if you are eligible, visit http://www.afas.org/education/arnoldedgrant.cfm.
The Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts Program

Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) provides services to support families of children with developmental delays, disabilities, or special learning needs. It delivers Early Intervention Services (EIS) to eligible infants and toddlers and their families in domestic and overseas areas.
