470th ABS School Liaison Office

AFNORTH International School

There is one Department of Defense Dependent School Unit (DoDDS) that serves the students in the tri-border area. All students attend AFNORTH International School (AIS), which is located in Brunssum, the Netherlands, a five-minute drive from the back gate. 

AIS American Section is a member of the Isles School District. Visit Department of Defense Education Activity-Europe to learn more information about DoD schools in Europe.

AFNORTH has a web page filled with all of the information that you will need to register. Please note that you must go to the school to deliver records (if needed) and to sign documents before students can attend classes. The school's staff would like for you to visit the school at least one day before your child begins school. You can also contact the school registrar directly with any questions if you wish. We recommend that you hand carry any school records if permissible from the school the student is leaving. For more information, visit http://www.afno-is.eu.dodea.edu.

School Lunch
School lunches at AIS are provided by the Exchange. The free/reduced lunch program is offered for American students. If you would like to apply for this program, please complete and turn in the Application for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program along with your leave and earnings statement, and your spouse's pay information if applicable to the school liaison officer or the school.

The Bus Office
The Tri-Border School Bus Office is located at AIS. Customer service hours are between 9 a.m. -5 p.m. Their commercial number is 0031 45-527-8232. In the event of an emergency after hours, please call them at 0031 62-011-0014. The school has a "transportation" link on their web page for more information. It is important to make sure that your village has a bus stop. Not all towns in this area have bus stops. When you arrive, you may contact the school liaison or the bus transportation office to determine which areas are included.

   Spangdahlem AB and the 52nd Fighter Wing have a rich history. The wing has seen many people and aircraft come and go throughout the years, but one thing remains the same. The 52nd has always been prepared to SEEK ATTACK DESTROY.

   The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the United States and allied nations.
