Five Spangdahlem Air Base Airmen participated among a group of 250 young people for a youth reception with state leadership at the 33rd annual Rheinland-Pfalz Day in the city of Alzey, Germany, June 3, 2016.

Malu Dreyer, minister-president of Rheinland-Pfalz, met with the Airmen, along with U.S. Air Force Airmen and U.S. Army Soldiers from the Ramstein Air Base area, to address their questions and thank them for their accomplishments and community involvement.

“My young guests are a true benefit for their schools, communities and our state,” Dreyer said. "They belong to different associations and organizations; some of them are involved in church, aid or social programs in support or their communities."

Different regions, cities, communities and associations within the state came for the three-day fair to represent their unique cultures and customs through shows, art, dances and sporting events.

“The Rheinland-Pfalz state fair features entertainment and stands for life-time friends and professional organizations and is a wonderful way for the hosting city to present and showcase itself,” Dreyer said.
