470th Air Base Squadron (the "Bisons")

The mission of the 470th Air Base Squadron is to support NATO, the Department of Defense and family members while providing combat-ready Airmen to the nation's fight.

The 470 ABS meets their mission, as a National Support Unit, through a professional and seasoned group of individuals providing a myriad of services including Medical Operations, Commander's Support Staff, Airman and Family Readiness Flight (including Child Development Center and School Age Program), Education Center, Legal, Chapel, Financial Management and other Mission Support Flight functions.

The squadron is located on Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base, outside the town of Tevern, Germany. The unit's parent wing, the 52d Fighter Wing, is a 2-hour drive to the southeast of Germany. The 470th ABS has personnel who are also located at NATO Allied JFC Brunnsum (Netherlands) and NATO Joint Air Power Competence Center Kalkar (Germany).

The Bison family entails approximately 170 active duty, civilians, and local nationals from 36 different core Air Force specialties.
