52nd Munitions Maintenance Group

Group Summary
The 52d Munitions Maintenance Group provides four fully capable US Munitions Support Squadrons (MUNSS) responsible for the ownership, custody, accountability and release of war reserve munitions supporting NATO forces.  The MMG receives, stores, maintains, controls and employs $24B of assets in direct support of the North Atlantic Treaty Organizations' (NATO) contingency, wartime and strike missions.

The 52d Munitions Maintenance Group is organized into four squadrons and one operating location:

The 701 Munitions Support Squadron (701 MUNSS) is a Geographically Separated Unit responsible to receive, store, and maintain US munitions, and to provide custody and control of those munitions until receipt of proper authority to release them to the Belgian Air Force 10W TAC (F-16 aircraft) in support of NATO's Strike Mission.

The 702 Munitions Support Squadron (702 MUNSS) is a Geographically Separated Unit responsible for receipt, storage, maintenance and control of US war reserve munitions in support of the German Air Force Jagdbomber-Geschwader 33 (33rd Fighter-Bomber (PA-200) Wing. The squadron directly supports North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) contingency and wartime operations and its strike mission.

The 703 Munitions Support Squadron (703 MUNSS) is a Geographically Separated Unit responsible to receive, store, and maintain US munitions, and to provide custody and control of those munitions until receipt of proper authority to release them to the Royal Netherlands Air Force 1st FW Wing (F-16 aircraft) in support of NATO's Strike Mission.

The 704 Munitions Support Squadron (704 MUNSS) is a Geographically Separated Unit located at Ghedi Air Force base in Italy. The mission is to receive, store, maintain, provide custody for, and upon receipt of properly authenticated messages, provide reliable weapons to the 6th STORMO Italian Air Force.

   Spangdahlem AB and the 52nd Fighter Wing have a rich history. The wing has seen many people and aircraft come and go throughout the years, but one thing remains the same. The 52nd has always been prepared to SEEK ATTACK DESTROY.

F-16 FIGHTING FALCON

   The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the United States and allied nations.
