JPAC requesting Saber volunteers

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany --  The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command is searching for missing military members from previous wars in two locations near Spangdahlem Air Base, from June to September 2013. During their four-month search they are requesting Saber volunteers to help with the dig.

"It is really fulfilling to be out there to know that you have a direct correlation to bringing home folks fulfilling the promise that we make to all our service members," said Master Sgt. Christopher Mciver, 52nd Maintenance Operations Squadron NCO in charge of programs from Oxon Hill, Md. "Wearing a band is great and it shows support, but you're actually out there putting your hand in the dirt and physically working to bring these guys home and give their loved ones peace."

JPAC conducts global search, recovery, and laboratory operations to search for and identify more than 83, 000 Americans still missing from past conflicts.

Any Saber or family member age 15 or older can volunteer. Volunteers meet at 8 a.m. at the Shopette with a scheduled return time of 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Volunteers are highly encouraged to pack a lunch and bring plenty of water because it is a full day of work.
