  • Spangdahlem refuels BTF bombers with VIPER kit for first time

    Two B-1B Lancers from Dyess Air Force Base’s 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, currently operating from Royal Air Force Fairford, England, conducted hot-pit refueling using the innovative Versatile Integrated Partner Equipment Refueling (VIPER) kit, at Spangdahlem AB Oct. 11.
  • New Medical Squadron Activated at Geilenkirchen NATO AB

    The 470th Medical Flight has transitioned to the new 852nd Medical Squadron and was officially activated under Spangdahlem Air Base’s 52nd Medical Group during a ceremony Oct. 1, realigning administratively to better support Airmen and their families. The 852nd MDS, which previously belonged to the 470th Air Base Squadron and 52nd Mission Support Group, is tasked to operationally support and care for the 52nd Fighter Wing’s 10 Geographically Separated Units (GSUs) within three countries, including Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
  • Spangdahlem Air Base validates rapid mobility and munitions resupply alongside joint partners for ACE exercise

    Airmen assigned to the 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem Air Base deployed to Leeuwarden Air Base, Netherlands, last month to execute a short-notice Agile Combat Employment exercise. During the mission, the 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron’s Traffic Management Office, Outbound Cargo Operations exercised the capability of moving live munitions to austere operating locations.

  • 52nd FW supports OAW, maintains mission

    In the weeks following the official end of the U.S.’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, Ramstein Air Base has been supporting Operation Allies Welcome by processing approximately 34,100 evacuees, making Ramstein AB the largest reception port for evacuees within U.S. European Command as of Aug. 20. In order for the 52nd Fighter Wing to support OAW efforts at Ramstein AB, Spangdahlem Air Base hosted a massive increase in cargo and passenger aircraft, all while maintaining its normal fighter jet operations and global deterrence mission.
  • SAF, USAF partner together for Afghanistan evacuation operations

    Members of the Singapore Armed Forces arrived at Spangdahlem Air Base late Friday night, Aug. 27. Their contingent, made up of aircrew, engineers and security forces, will provide additional support to the Afghanistan evacuation operations.

  • The 726th Air Mobility Squadron: A true testament to Mission, Airmen, Community

    The roar of the 52nd Fighter Wing’s F-16 Fighting Falcons can be heard throughout the surrounding areas of Spangdahlem Air Base, but they aren’t the only aircraft mission the base holds. The 726th Air Mobility Squadron, a partner unit on the base without any permanently assigned aircraft, may technically belong to Air Mobility Command for administration, but it plays a large role in supporting the wing and the United States Air Forces Europe and Africa.
  • 480th EFS hosts Crew Chief for a Launch

    Airmen of the 480th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron participated in bilateral training with the Polish air force during Aviation Detachment Rotation 21.3 in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve at Łask Air Base, Poland. ADRs provide Airmen with unique training opportunities placing them in new environments and giving them the chance to work along said a variety career-fields. The Airmen of the 480th EFS take this idea a step further through a program called “Crew Chief for a Launch”.
