Spangdahlem hosts 9/11 Remembrance ceremony
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Jared Waddell, 52nd Civil Engineers Squadron firefighter, rings a bell during a 9/11 Remembrance ceremony, Sept. 8, 2023, at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. In the past, when a firefighter died in the line of duty, it was the mournful toll of the bell that solemnly announced a comrades’ passing. Today it is used to highlight our heroes for a moment of silent reflection and remembrance. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman Sydney Franklin)
