It takes a team to run an airfield

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Master Sgt. Tammy Kinder-Tims, 52nd Operations Support Squadron assistant tower chief controller, peers through her binoculars as A-10 Thunderbolt IIs taxi onto the Spangdahlem Air Base runway July 14. Airmen in the airfield operations flight are responsible for the airfield environment including oversight of Spangdahlem’s runway, parallel taxiway and six operational ramps, totaling more than 7 million square feet of airfield pavement.
