It takes a team to run an airfield
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Staff Sgt. James Brown, 52nd Operations Support Squadron air traffic controller, checks the computer in Spangdahlem Air Base’s air traffic control tower and coordinates air traffic with American and German agencies July 14. Airmen in the airfield operations flight are responsible for the airfield environment including oversight of Spangdahlem’s runway, parallel taxiway and six operational ramps, totaling more than 7 million square feet of airfield pavement.
