Spangdahlem receives aqueous film-forming foam

SPANGDALEM AIR BASE, Germany – Airman 1st Class Estevan Escarsega, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron, uses a hose line to spray a collection unit with aqueous film-forming foam, while Staff Sgt. James Wolnik and Staff Sgt. Daniel Jones, both from the 52nd CES, observe on the flight line July 18. Spangdahlem recently replaced all AFFF with new foam uncontaminated by perfluorooctane sulfonate, a substance banned by the EU, and now must perform tests to ensure it is within specific guidelines.
