Airmen work with NATO partners to accomplish mission
NATO AIR BASE GEILENKIRCHEN, Germany – Tech. Sgt. Richey Leamer, NATO E-3A Airborne Early Warning and Control force component E-3A Sentry crew chief, performs a preflight checklist in the cockpit of an E-3A March 19. The E-3A is a four-engine, modified Boeing 707-320 aircraft that provides all-weather surveillance, command, control and communications needed by the commanders of NATO air forces. The component’s mission is to provide aircraft and trained aircrews to deliver a surveillance and/or control platform whenever directed by the NATO AWACS commander on behalf of the supreme allied commander, Europe.
