Travel Journal: Sabers visit Eternal City with ITT

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Inside the Coliseum opened in 80 AD. The Coliseum could seat about 50,000 people who came to watch gladiatorial fights, mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, battle reenactments and drama. Much of the building material from the Coliseum was scavenged and used for other buildings in the city. Twenty-six service members and civilians booked a trip to Rome Dec. 21 – 25 with the 52nd Force Support Squadron’s Information, Tickets and Travel office. (USAF photo/Master Sgt. Kelley J. Stewart)
