Trier’s Weihnachtsmarkt highlights holiday cheer

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – A visitor enjoys a Dampfnudel, or steamed dumpling, at the Trier’s Weihnachtsmarkt Dec. 8 in the main market square in Trier. Steamed dumplings with warm cherries and vanilla sauce is a popular, traditional holiday food item in Germany. The Trier Weihnachtsmarkt is going on now through Dec. 22. Opening times are 10:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Highlights include a performance by the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Brass Band from 6 - 7 p.m. Dec. 13.
