‘A-Team’ A-10s, Apaches hone CSAR, CAS skills
BAUMHOLDER, Germany – U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Bob Carpenter, 81st Fighter Squadron pilot, uses a combat survivor evader locater radio to communicate with U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots during a U.S. Army and Air Force close air support and combat search and rescue training exercise at the Baumholder Major Training Area here Jan. 26. He relayed this information as the A-10s practiced CAS in an enemy threat scenario.
