Barber recounts 4 decades of German, US partnership

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Heinz Willems cuts the hair of Staff Sgt. John-Paul Harris, 52nd Equipment Maintenance Squadron aircraft structural maintenance technician, at the barbershop here Feb. 10. Willems began work at the Spangdahlem barbershop Jan. 15, 1972, and has cut the hair of thousands of service members and their families during his four decades of service. He learned to speak English by talking with his customers. The 52nd Force Support Squadron honored Willems and coworker Guenther Anhuth during a length-of-service ceremony in January. Anhuth has worked here since 1969, marking 83 years of combined haircutting service to the Spangdahlem AB and Bitburg Annex community. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Daryl Knee/Released)
