‘Initial success or total failure’ - Ultimate sacrifice not forgotten
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Senior Airman James Ingalls, 886th Civil Engineer Squadron from Ramstein Air Base, helps Capt. Matthew Borawski, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight, don a bomb suit to run in the “Jog 4 Joe” 5K fun run at the Skelton Memorial Fitness Center track here June 22. The 52nd CES EOD Flight organized the race to honor Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Hamski, an EOD technician who was killed in action May 26, 2011. Money raised from the run was donated to the EOD Memorial Foundation and the Fisher House Foundation. The Pitsenbarger Airman Leadership School dedicated an auditorium to Hamski after the run. Hamski’s Community College of the Air Force diploma was later accepted by his mother, Mary-Ellen Winston, during the Spring 2012 Commencement ceremony.
