Crew chiefs battle for first place
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Staff Sgt. Corey Glezen, 480th Aircraft Maintenance Unit crew chief, connects bolts together using safety wire as part of a crew chief competition here Aug. 10. The safety wire board is used for training purposes and simulates the work maintainers may need to perform on aircraft safety wires. A select few crew chiefs from the 480th and 81st AMUs undergo a series of mental and physical trials to test their skills and knowledge during the competition. The winners earn bragging rights as the best maintenance unit until the next competition and also take home a wooden toolbox inscribed with the crew chief’s creed as a trophy.
