Manderscheid Castles: Where past meets present at annual castle festival

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Two local castles are admired year-round by many visitors of the Eifel region. Once a year, one of the two castles, the Niederburg, or lower castle, becomes the site for a popular event, the historical Manderscheid castle festival. During the annual Manderscheid historical castle festival, knights on their horses will battle with lances, swords, bows and spears.
