Spangdahlem tests drunk, drowsy drivers
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Aleashia De La Vergne from Roy, Wash., has her blood alcohol level taken during a Safe Driving Initiative at the Brick House April 26, 2013. De La Vergne participated in the event as a person deprived of sleep. Event coordinators separated the participants into two groups — one deprived of sleep and one that consumed alcohol. Security forces tested each group’s BAC to ensure they all started at zero. Each group went through several sobriety and driving simulator tests throughout the evening to see the effects alcohol and sleep deprivation have on driving.
