Long time Spangdahlem community teacher passes away Published April 19, 2013 By 010413 WIESBADEN, Germany -- Patricia Wynne, a special education teacher at Spangdahlem Elementary School passed away suddenly April 16. Wynne, who was 75, spent her entire 49 years of teaching with the Department of Defense Dependents Schools. The last 20 years, she has been at Spangdahlem. She began her career in Okinawa, Japan in 1964. She transferred to Germany and taught at Wurzburg ES, Mainz ES, Dexheim ES, and Hahn ES. "Pat loved living in Europe," said Rich Alix, Spangdahlem ES principal. "Her greatest passion was ballet. She often spent three-day weekends in London enjoying performances. She also liked fine dining and traveling." "If there is one lesson all of us can learn from Pat's life, it is this, live your life to the fullest every day - don't wait to start living after retirement," Alix added. She was born in Ohio and grew up in Miami, Florida, where her father was a pilot for Pan Am Airlines. She attended college at Trinity Washington University in Washington, D.C. Recently, in 2010, she joined her high school classmates at a festive celebration of the 50th anniversary of their graduation. Wynne is survived by her nephew Christopher Wynne of Marietta, Ga.
