Honorary commanders of the 52nd Fighter Wing are hosting Spangdahlem Sabers on a visit to Binsfeld at 2 p.m., June 12. This invitation was extended April 29 during the Explore the Eifel information and adventure fair.

The Binsfeld tour will include community highlights such as a visit at a small historical museum, where visitors can view everyday items from the past, used by local residents in the Eifel.

The community of Binsfeld is proud of its' manifold road crosses and monuments, that all have their own history and story from the past.

An attraction in Binsfeld is certainly also the old locomotive that used to run back and forth through the Eifel with a short stop in Binsfeld, providing transportation to local residents in the past. An  an old post office station was used to drop off mail in the old days on the postal route between Cologne and Vienna.

Binsfeld has its own, original butchery. The butcher invites base members on a tour Friday to see the facility, inviting to food treats and refreshments afterwards.

Spangdahlem Sabers are encouraged to participate in the local community tour. Own transportation must be arranged to and from the meeting point, which is the Binsfeld Kreissparkasse bank. The tour is free to base members and their families.

For more information or to make a reservation for the tour by Thursday, June 11, call the 52nd FW Community Relations office at DSN 452-7161 or commercial 0656561-7161.
