Brig. Gen. Tal Kelman, Israeli air force vice chief of staff, toured the 52nd Operations Group and 52nd Maintenance Group on Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, July 27, 2016.

The general visited while attending the Air Senior National Representative forum, which focuses on enhancing Israeli air force and U.S. Air Force cooperation.

“I see we have the same challenges,”Kelman said. “Both air forces are dealing with the problem of having to cut personnel, and finding unique ways of dealing with that.”

During his visit, Airmen from the 52nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and 52nd Maintenance Squadron explained how their jobs helped accomplish the mission by providing safe, reliable maintenance to F-16 Fighting Falcons fighter aircraft, support equipment and munitions resources.

“I think that both air forces have the same challenges and the same values, and we can mutually learn from each other,” the general said.

“Sharing best practices with our allies and looking for innovative ideas we can potentially use will help strengthen capabilities and interoperability with future air operations together,” Said Col. Stephen Scherzer, 52nd Maintenance Group commander.
