Airmen taking their Air Force Physical Fitness Assessment will no longer test inside the Skelton Memorial Fitness Center gym during inclement weather.

The new fitness center opened for testing Dec. 11 with the first test administered there the same day.

"The first thing I've noticed is that everyone seems to like this track," said Master Sgt. Noleo Pagaduan, section chief of fitness and sports 52nd Force Support Squadron. "Over at Skelton, it's mostly turning while you run. Over here, it's like running on a regular track."

Previously Airmen ran 25 laps in the Skelton gym to complete the 1.5-mile run portion of the assessment if weather forced the test inside. The new fitness center's indoor track cuts the number down to just 16 and one third laps for the running portion of the assessment.

All Airmen reporting for their assessment should report to Building 149 to test. Depending on the weather conditions, Airmen will do their entire test either there and on the base track or at the new fitness center.

"It's phenomenally better," said Senior Airman Joseph Morgridge, crew chief of 52nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, when referring to the indoor track at the new fitness center. "Every time I ran my PT test here, it's been inside. It's a lot better and easier."

At this time the fitness center is not openĀ for public use.
