April is the Month of the Military Child, and Spangdahlem will showcase the role these children play in support of their parents, our 52nd Fighter Wing Airmen on a daily basis.

This year's theme, "Their Lives, Their Stories" highlights the lifestyles, contributions and sacrifices military children make to their nation.

"This month is important because military children experience different things that kids of non-military parents may not face," said Brittny Gainey, 52nd Medical Operations Squadron Family Advocacy intervention specialist. "It's important to recognize the things children may experience and go through and to celebrate them because it takes a lot of strength and courage to withstand all of the different issues they face."

The following is a list of events for the Spangdahlem community.

- The "Show Me Your Selfie" contest will take place April 1-24. Service members can take a photograph with their children or have their child take one and send it to spangmarketing@hotmail.com. Photos will be uploaded April 20 to the 52nd Force Support Squadron Facebook page, and the photo with the most likes will win a prize. www.facebook.com/52DFSS
