Public affairs answers questions about ‘The Saber Herald’ Published Oct. 11, 2007 By Staff Reports 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The return of the newspaper to Spangdahlem Air Base has raised numerous questions from the Saber community. Why did the newspaper name change? The newspaper name has been changed from the "Eifel Times" to "The Saber Herald" because it is no longer the product of the 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office. "The Saber Herald" is designed, laid out, printed and published by AdvantiPro. Who determines what is published in the paper? The Public Affairs Office compiles information and places it on the base Web site, at www.spangdahlem.af.mil. AdvantiPro then selects information from the Web site to be placed in the paper. Priority is given based on the commander's preference, timeliness and space. Not everything that is published online is guaranteed to be published in "The Saber Herald." How are briefs, ads and stories submitted? Information should be e-mailed to the public affairs office at publicity@spangdahlem.af.mil. Classified ads, community and sports briefs should be sent 10 days before the desired publication date. Stories should be sent eight days before the desired publication date. How do I guarantee that a submission is printed? The public affairs office will do its best to facilitate the publishing of the information online, however, newspaper space is limited and not everything published online will make it into the newspaper. Submit information early to increase the chances of it being picked up by the publisher. Who can place free classified ads? Free classified ads can be placed by any U.S. servicemember, retiree, dependant, Department of Defense civilian employee or German national working on base for one time sale or wanted items or services. Free ads are not available for the rental of a home or personal businesses. Who should be contacted for information about placing a paid advertisement? To place a paid advertisement in "The Saber Herald," e-mail suzie@advantipro.de or call 0631-3033-5537.
