A&FRC searches for volunteer of the year nominees Published Feb. 27, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Tammie Moore 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The Airman & Family Readiness Center is seeking outstanding volunteers to recognize during the 2009 Volunteer Recognition Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. April 23 in Club Eifel. Any member of the 52nd Fighter Wing who is registered with the Wing Volunteer Resource Program as a volunteer; active-duty member, retired, civilian, dependent, geographically separated member or local national, who performs volunteer activities can be nominated for an award. Volunteer recognition categories include Airman Volunteer Award, Volunteer Excellence Award, the Diversity Award, Volunteer Leadership Award, Youth Excellence Award (14 and older), Youth Excellence Award (13 and younger), Angel Award and Team Eifel Award. "Each volunteer can be submitted for up to two awards," said Shonte Gonzalez, A&FRC community readiness consultant. Young volunteers may also be nominated for the Volunteer Leadership Award and the Angel Award. The Team Eifel Award is a group achievement not individually recognized and will not count against an individual volunteer category. An Air Force Form 1206 and cover letter needs to be submitted for each package. "Any person who is knowledgeable to the individual's volunteer contributions to their community can nominate a volunteer," Mrs. Gonzalez said. "Be sure to include the nominee in creating packages because volunteer accomplishments need to accurately reflect volunteer efforts and a cover letter must be signed by package writer and volunteer confirming accuracy." Packages are due by 4 p.m. March 20 to the A&FRC. They can be e-mailed to amy.smith2@spangdahlem.af.mil or dropped off at the A&FRC. For more information, call 452-6422.
