SPANGDAHELM AIR BASE, Germany -- Mike Kirsch, Outdoor Recreation program director, looks on as 2nd Lt. Vincent McLean, 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron Materiel Management Flight commander and Outdoor Recreation volunteer, helps strap in a participant during a caving and rappelling daytrip in Luxembourg. After a 20-minute hike into the woods, about 25 Sabers crawled through caves and careened off cliffs and into caves while donning hard hats and harnesses. SPANGDAHELM AIR BASE, Germany -- Capt. Jared Ferneau, 52nd Fighter Wing Plans and Programs, rappels into a cave during an Outdoor Recreation daytrip. Capt. Ferneau was one of approximately 25 Sabers who ventured to Luxembourg to crawl through and descend into caves, which were dark enough to require a hardhat light.
