AAFES Announces a Complete Outage of the ESSO Fuel Card System in Germany on November 7, 2010 Published Oct. 28, 2010 MAINZ-KASTEL, Germany -- The Army & Air Force Exchange Service will have a scheduled system outage which will impact the ESSO Fuel Ration Card System for Germany on Sunday, November 7, 2010, beginning at 5 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. (times are Central European Time). Between these hours, customers in Germany will not be able to purchase fuel at AAFES gas stations or use their fuel card to purchase rationed fuel at ESSO stations off-post. Also, AAFES will not be able to issue or replace fuel ration cards, do balance/ration inquiries or add money to fuel card accounts. Customers should plan accordingly and fuel up and perform any card activities prior to the outage, or wait until the outage ends. This outage is on the first Sunday of November 2010, when the U.S. observes the change in daylight savings time. The outage is necessary to reset the computer mainframe system clocks to Standard Time and perform critical system maintenance and software upgrades. The Exchange apologizes for any inconvenience and frustration caused due to this necessary fuel ration card system outage.
