Because of this, I was able to see what the military had to offer. When I could join, I jumped at the opportunity to become part of something bigger than myself, to defend our country's freedom, to travel the world and gain a higher education. Family: My family lives in Tucson, Ariz. My father, Jose, recently retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service. My mother, Sheryl, is a teacher and librarian. My sister Jessica is just about to start her first year of college, and my other sister, Jackie, is starting high school. Hobbies: I like helping others enjoy their time here and realize that their surroundings have a lot more to offer than they think. On my down days, I am always bringing new people around Europe or on outdoor recreation trips. In the winter, I like to spend my time snowboarding and teaching others how to snowboard. In the summer, I like to lead hiking, kayaking, camping and biking trips. Favorite aspect of job: My favorite part of the job is supplying the fight down range with equipment and helping our fellow military men and women serving down range or overseas to get home. Most memorable Air Force experience: I will never forget basic training and the knowledge and discipline I gained going through it. How do you make responsible choices: I look at the consequences and ask myself a series of questions before I make a decision. Is it safe or legal? Will it harm anyone? Does is conflict with my other responsibilities?
