Name: Airman 1st Class Anna White

Unit: 52nd Medical Operations Squadron

Duty title: Mental health technician

Hometown: Cambridge Springs, Pa.

Years in Service: Two and a half years

Why joined: My two older brothers both served in the military and I greatly admired what they did. Based on their military service I became really passionate to follow in their footsteps. I wanted to join a career field helping those returning from war.

Family: I was born the eighth child in a family of 10. I have five nieces and seven nephews. At any given moment we could have up to 30 people in our home. It made growing up in my house exciting and it was nice to always have someone around to play capture the flag with.

Hobbies: I like to travel and I am very lucky to be stationed in Germany for my first duty assignment. In addition, I like to cook, read, paint and watch movies.

Favorite aspect of job: My job is very hands-on with a lot of flexibility in regards to patient care. This presents many learning opportunities not only from patients but also from working alongside mental health practitioners. This aspect of my job keeps me engaged and active with the skills I have learned.

Most memorable Air Force experience:
There are many memorable experiences that I have had in the past two years. Most recently I was selected to meet the Secretary of the Air Force. It was an honor that I was selected to meet him. It made me feel really appreciated that my commander chose me.

How do you make responsible choices: I was taught at a very young age "bad company corrupts good morals" and avoid making friendships with people that do not fit the life I want to live. I have made many lifelong friends who are always there to give me the best advice with whatever problems I may face. It is always important to spend time with people you can truly trust.
