Bazaar set to kick off 2012 holiday season

The 2012 Eifel Holiday Bazaar will be open to all NATO and U.S. military card holders Oct. 26 - 28.

Admission is free to the three-day community shopping event, which will showcase antiques, furniture, cultural foods, clothing, toys and home décor by more than 125 vendors from throughout Europe.

The bazaar dates and hours of operation are:

- Friday, Oct. 26, noon - 7 p.m.

- Saturday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

- Sunday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

To provide food and beverages to visitors, 14 vendors will be set up outside the hangars during the bazaar.

Families can take photos with and request gifts from Santa Claus 4 - 6 p.m. Oct. 26, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 2 - 4 p.m. Oct. 27, and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Oct. 28.

Attendees are also eligible to enter hourly vendor raffles at the event. Winners who are not present will be contacted at a later time to pick up their prizes. American Forces Network Spangdahlem will offer prize giveaways Friday afternoon as well.

Customers can park on the ramp behind the hangars. The 52nd Security Forces Squadron will monitor and regulate the parking area.

The annual holiday bazaar helps stimulate the base and local economy and raises money for local charities such as educational scholarships, base support and schools and other Air Force national organizations, said Megan Dumas, Spangdahlem Officers' and Civilians' Spouses Club 2012 Eifel Holiday Bazaar chairwoman.
