Super Saber Performer Published Jan. 31, 2013 By Staff Reports 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Name: Staff Sgt. Bradford K. Schroeder Unit: 52nd Component Maintenance Squadron Duty title: Electronic warfare craftsman Hometown: Monticello, Minn. Years in Service: 4 years Why joined: My family has a lot of history in the military. My grandfathers served in the Navy and Marine Corps during the Korean War, my great uncle flew the C-130 Hercules in the Air Force and my father served as a weapons crew chief during the Vietnam War. My desire to join the U.S. Air Force was a combination of family history, but also seeking to provide for my family and serve my country at the same time. Family: I have been married for nearly eight years to my high school sweetheart Tamitha. We have two awesome little boys, Eli is six and Zeke is 19 months. Hobbies: The majority of my free time is spent with my family, but I also enjoy running, biking, camping, and videogames. Favorite aspect of job: The favorite part of my job is the challenge of troubleshooting problems, and the satisfaction of overcoming those problems. Most memorable Air Force experience: In 2011, during Operation Odyssey Dawn, I got the chance to spend a week on the flightline as part of a team preparing our electronic countermeasure pods for real world combat. We Reprogrammed the ECM pods with software designed to defeat enemy threat radar and protect our pilots from the enemy's air defense system. It was the first time in my Air Force career I got to see the ECM pods I work to maintain, fly into a combat zone, perform flawlessly, and bring back the pilot and aircraft unscathed - it was awesome. How do you make responsible choices: I am a Christian. I seek to honor and serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ every day. By the enabling of the Holy Spirit I am able to make the responsible choices I should. It's as simple as that.
