Super Saber Performer Published May 2, 2013 By Staff Reports 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Name: Airman 1st Class Kyrsys Sierra-Arenas Unit: 52nd Dental Squadron Duty title: Dental assistant Hometown: Lexington, Ky. Years in Service: Two years and four months Why joined: I joined the Air Force to be a part of something greater than me and to help me reach the goals I've set out for myself. I want to be a good example for my younger brother, Ryan Sierra. Family: My mother, Zelideth A. Arenas; father, Julio A. Sierra; and brother, Ryan S. Sierra. They are all very supportive of me and proud of the choices I've made so far. Hobbies: I love to travel, and I am going to school to finish my Community College of the Air Force degree. Favorite aspect of job: I love being an airman first class who performs dental cleanings and educates patients on proper oral hygiene. I'm not going to lie, the days are hectic, but I enjoy every bit of it. I get to meet the new Airman as they arrive to Spangdahlem and stop in to see us. I feel like I can make a difference in the way they perceive dental, because I can relate to them on a different level, airman to airman. Most memorable Air Force experience: My most memorable experience had to have been getting orders to Germany! I've always dreamt of traveling overseas, and now my wish has come true. How do you make responsible choices: Everybody makes irresponsible choices in their life at some point; however, it's a matter of learning from them and not being repetitive in your decision making. If it seems risky to me, I won't go down that path. I always make sure I think of the consequences of my actions before I make any concrete decisions.
