The 52nd Force Support Squadron Super Saber Appreciation Day takes place July 4.

"This year's Super Saber Appreciation Day festivities are the biggest and best we have ever had," said George Price, 52nd FSS special events coordinator. "We're very excited to have the opportunity to give back to the community for all of the support they have given us throughout the year, by celebrating alongside all of you on our nation's independence day."

Funding for this event was created through non-appropriated funds, which are generated through sales at FSS facilities and are of no cost to the tax-payer. This is even more important when considering fiscal cutbacks through sequestration.

The planning for SSAD was very long in the making, with approximately one year of building this event. The work and dedication of Mason Walker, 52nd FSS Commercial Sponsorship Coordinator -- in addition to Price and the more-than 100 volunteers -- gave their time to make this day happen.

Festivities will begin at 2 p.m., at the bowling alley pavilion and run all the way to the fireworks display starting at 10:30 p.m.

2-4:30 p.m. - Pet Show registration

4 p.m. - Watermelon eating contest

5-7 p.m. - Pet Show

6:15 - 8:15 p.m. - Live music performed by band Goose Flesh
