Spangdahlem family involved in fatal vehicle accident Published Dec. 17, 2018 By Staff Reports 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Two Spangdahlem Airmen and their two sons were involved in a fatal car accident on the A60 autobahn near the base at approximately 12:30 am Sunday, December 17th. Their 8-year-old child’s injuries were too severe and he died at the scene. An adult male was transported to the Wittlich Krankenhaus and treated for injuries. He is listed in stable condition. An adult woman and a young boy were also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. They are listed in good condition. “This is a devastating loss to our community,” said Col. Jason Bailey, 52nd Fighter Wing commander. “Our hearts are with the family during this difficult time.” The cause of the accident is under investigation and more details will be released as they become available.
