Members of the Spangdahlem Parent Advisory Board honored base child development center, school age program, teen center, and tween center child care providers by hosting a luncheon here May 12, which is National Provider Appreciation Day.

“It was a small token of our appreciation as parents,” said Mrs. Lydia Leasher, Spangdahlem PAB secretary.

“They take care of our kids, while we get the mission done,” said Tech. Sgt. Felicia Blackwell, Spangdahlem PAB treasurer.

National Child Care Provider Day is a special day to recognize child care providers, teachers, and other educators of young children everywhere. The day is celebrated each year on the Friday before Mother’s Day.

Started in 1996, the founders saw the need to recognize the tireless efforts of providers who care for children of working parents.

“We look forward to events involving child care providers and parents throughout the year,” said Capt. Ebony Mulero, Spangdahlem PAB vice president.
