Sabers welcomed a new wing commander June 23 at the 52nd Fighter Wing change of command ceremony in Hangar 1.

Col. Darryl Roberson assumed command of the wing and said that he and his wife Cheryl and son Chad were excited and happy to be back in Spangdahlem.

"I look forward to working with you and with the tremendous staff here," the colonel said. "The U.S. Air Force is in the process of transforming to support the Global War on Terrorism, and it is important to continue to have flexibility and adaptability … something that is not new to the Air Force."

The commander also said it is important for Team Eifel members to remember their heritage, rule their present and reach for their future, as there will be demands and challenges to face in the future.

After the event, guests were invited to a social gathering where they were greeted by the Robersons in Club Eifel.

Colonel Roberson and family arrived here from the Pentagon where he served as the assistant deputy director for Anti-Terrorism and Homeland Defense for the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
