Trier Christmas Circus attracts small, tall with holiday fun

Once again the ancient Roman city of Trier becomes the site for a spectacular holiday event, the Trier Christmas Circus, to be held at a big top at the city's Moselauen fairgrounds.

The circus will offer shows for families or single people, children or adults, featuring acrobatic acts, clownery, animal acts and much more Dec. 20 until Jan. 6.

Santa Claus will celebrate a holiday party with the circus visitors. Every year, base members receive a warm welcome from the circus staff at the event.

The debut, which is a special event, takes place Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. A separate lobby festival tent will be set up for the event. It will be decorated for Christmas and have with food, beverages and musical entertainment putting visitors in the right mood for the holidays.

The Christmas Circus offers a completely new show every year. Some highlights include the fastest knife thrower in the world, who was entered into the Guiness Book of Records in 2006, a crocodile show and acrobatic acts by artists from the Moscow State Circus.

Tickets, which typically sell fast, can be reserved by calling Oliver Haeberle, a circus manager at 0170 - 5235-826. Herr Haeberle speaks English. Military members will receive a special package deal when presenting a valid ID, buy one ticket and get one free.

Shows will take place daily at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., except for the day of the debut when there is only one show at 7:30 p.m. Also, there will be no shows Dec. 24 or New Year's Day.
