The Protestant Women of the Chapel have begun a new program offering women of the base the opportunity to get a workout while fellowshipping. Every Thursday the women's group offers a free Christian Alternative Yoga Class.

The class is open to all women who want to increase their flexibility and reduce their stress though yoga without the chanting and meditation of traditional Hindu yoga, said Laurie Kirk, 52nd Fighter Wing Chapel tithes and offerings account manager.

The class takes place at 5:30 p.m. in building 139 in the "intro room." A bible study "Giving God First place" follows the yoga class.

"'First Place' is a Christ-centered health program that uses a support system that incorporates bible study, scripture memorization, prayer, balanced eating and exercise plans," Mrs. Kirk said. "It provides the opportunity to change your life, not only physically but spiritually and emotionally."

While the yoga class is always open to new participants the bible study class runs in sessions. The next bible study session is scheduled to begin in May.

"Even if you have never done yoga, or participated in a bible study before, I encourage you to come," Mrs. Kirk said. "This would be the perfect first time, it is my first time doing yoga. Come and be surrounded by encouraging, loving and spiritual women. Your life will be changed."
