Once again this year the ancient Roman city of Trier becomes the site for a spectacular holiday event - the Trier Christmas Circus - to be held on the city's Moselauen fairgrounds. From Dec. 18 through Jan. 4 the circus will offer first-class shows for both children and adults. The show will feature acrobatic acts, clownery, animal acts and much more. Santa Claus will be present to celebrate the holiday with circus visitors.

Among the featured acts are Elvis Errani, who makes his Indian elephants perform outstanding acts just by whispering to them; the "Chongqing" Ensemble of the Chinese State circus performing some world-famous acrobatics; and Daliah Laurant with her trained Dalmatian and Great Dane dogs.

This show has been well received the past four times it has come to Trier. Every year, base members receive a warm welcome from the circus staff at the event. The debut, which is a very special event, takes place at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18. A separate festival tent will be set up for this event. It will be decorated for Christmas and have food, beverages and musical entertainment to put visitors in the holiday mood.

Shows will take place daily at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., except for Dec. 18, the day of the debut, and Jan. 4 when there is only one show at 3:30 p.m. There will be no shows on Dec. 24 or Jan. 1.

Tickets, which typically sell fast, can be reserved at info@smile-show.de or 0172-830-5699 (ask for Mr. Oliver Haeberle). The circus also has its own Web site at www.weihnachtscircus-trier.de.

Spangdahlem Sabers will receive a discounted entry price of €10 per seat when presenting a valid ID card to the cashier for shows after Dec. 20. Ticket prices for the debut on Dec. 18 range from €10 - 30, depending on the location of the seats. Special offers are not valid for front row seats on any day of the show.

A visit to this circus makes a nice Christmas treat. It is recommended to show up about 30 minutes early in order to find parking, purchase tickets and locate seats in time for the show to start. Snacks and beverages can be purchased prior to shows and during intermissions. Shows are about two and a half hours long.
