Military members and their families living in Europe have travel opportunities most people dream of. Unfortunately, four-legged family members aren't always allowed on these trips, but they can have a vacation of their own at the Pet Spa in Oberweis.

The Pet Spa is a full-service boarding facility and has 31 dog kennels and 12 cat kennels. If there are two animals per family, the pets can stay in the same kennel located inside the Pet Spa. There are also fenced-in areas outdoors for the dogs to run and play and an indoor room for the cats to play and roam. The Pet Spa will also house most exotic pets.

Dogs are walked twice a day, and cats are put in the cat room for a few hours a day. For additional charges, animals can be bathed, brushed, have extra walks, have their nails trimmed and are given extra play time.

For Spangdahlem's Airmen, It's a great service to have if you want to travel, go TDY or have to deploy. "You can rest assure your pets are taken care of," said Christa Lawson, 52nd Force Support Squadron Pet Spa manager.

The Pet Spa also offers doggy daycare Monday through Friday. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available. Dogs can be dropped off from 7-10 a.m. and picked up from 2-6 p.m.
Pick-up and delivery of four legged family members is also offered. The Pet Spa will pick-up and drop-off animals in the Spangdahlem, Bitburg, Ramstein and Frankfurt areas to include the Frankfurt International Airport. Prices vary depending on the number of animals and the location.

"It's a great service to use since most kennels will not fit in your car with all of your luggage," said Mari-Lyn Haynes, 52nd Force Support Squadron Pet Spa animal care taker.

Dog classes are also available at the Pet Spa. Puppy kindergarten is a five-week course held each Saturday from 10-11 a.m. The cost is $55 per pet. The dog obedience class is an eight-week course on Tuesdays from 7-8 p.m. The cost for these classes is $90 per pet.
